President of the National Conference of Governor's Schools

Friends,
As we consider another summer impacted by COVID-19 as well as other difficulties, I am glad to hear that many of you were able to provide some form of programming this summer. This fall continues forward rife with difficulties for many of our friends experiencing the ravages of nature, the aftermath of destruction, and the socio-emotional trauma that continues to impact us all. Despite all of these challenges, I still see that there is hope for today and each tomorrow on the horizon. This hope comes from the wonderful youth we interact with. From like-minded friends and colleagues that work tirelessly to bring the greatness of others to the forefront. It is also that our needs have caused innovation and adoption of new avenues to help and encourage leadership and growth in the world.
To this end, I would remind you all to keep your light shining brightly. Remember to take time to smell the roses, or if you suffer from allergies, perhaps enjoy some different reminder to slow down and take time for yourself and those who matter most to you. The work will always be there, and there will always be more to do that is possible to accomplish in the time you have allotted.
I would also encourage you to consider attending some or all of the sessions for the upcoming conference in October. I will be sharing more details with you all later, but I am excited about those who have already committed to sharing their expertise with us. I would also invite you to consider contacting me if there is a presenter or presentation topic that you really would like to hear at the conference as there are still a few slots left for presentations.
Be excellent.
Best,
Royal Toy
