West Virginia
The State of West Virginia is pleased to offer, at no cost, premier summer programs for students following their seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades in school.
The faculty and staff for all of the West Virginia Governor's Schools are carefully selected, giving students a specially designed curriculum. Students attend workshops, classes, and a variety of stimulating extra-curricular activities in the areas of arts, humanities, mathematics, science, and technology.
Except for providing health care insurance and transportation to and from the school site, Governor's Schools are entirely free for students. They are administered by the Office of Secretary of Education and the Arts.

The Governor's Honors Academy (GHA)
The Governor's Honors Academy (GHA) is for students who are currently high school juniors. In 2017, students spent three weeks with 175 fellow outstanding West Virginia scholars. In 2018, Marshall University is proud to host the Academy July 1-21

The Governor's School for the Arts (GSA)
The Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is for current high school sophomores who exhibit talent in the literary, performing and visual arts. Students attending the GSA are taught by practicing professionals in their respective fields of writing, dance, music, acting, drawing, painting, and digital media. The 2018 session of GSA is being held at Marshall University, June 24-July 14, under the leadership of Dr. Maribea Barnes.

The Governor's School of Entrepreneurship
The Governor's School of Entrepreneurship is for current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders who are interested in creating, inventing, and starting a business that can thrive and prosper in West Virginia. It is scheduled for June 25-July 15 at West Virginia University.

The Governor's STEM Institute (formerly GSMS)
The Governor's STEM Institute (formerly GSMS) is for students currently in the seventh or eighth grade. Students work with mentors and faculty on a specific research theme in a hands-on laboratory or field setting. There are two sessions of 48 students each, making the opportunity available for a greater number of students. Current 8th graders will attend a 14-day session that includes 60 students. The dates and sites of the sessions will be announced after December 15, 2017.
